When we talk about things that happen in a period of time from the past up to now, we often use these sentences.
We use the present perfect simple to talk about completed actions (but we do not say when they happened).
Subject + have/has + verb past participle
I have been to Mexico.
She has played the violin.
They have read books at night.
We also use the present perfect simple to say how much or how many.
For example:
We use the present perfect continuous to talk about unfinished activities that started in the past and are still in progress in the present.
Subject + have/has + been + -ing
I have been living in Mexico.
I have been living in Mexico for 2 years.
He has been working out very hard.
