Reflexive pronouns

When the object is the same as the subject of the verb.

• Be careful with that knife, you might hurt yourself.
• Would you like to pour yourself a drink?

We do not use a reflexive pronoun after verbs which describe things people usually do for themselves.

• He always shaved before going to bed.
• Kim got dressed and got ready fo the party.

However, we can do it to emphasize.

• She dressed herself, even though she’s only three.
• He is old enough to shave himself.

I sent Ana a gift. Ana sent me a gift.
